Aspiring Model? Why You should not Focus on Weight Loss!

Modeling has been synonymous with thin, small-waisted, big-busted, tiny-thighs, small hips, any description that defines tall and lanky. Models aspired to these features and actually made themselves ill from the constant obsession with adding a gram of fat to their already small bodies.THIS IS NOT HEALTHY, NOR WILL THIS MAKE YOU HAPPY!

Women in general are unnaturally preoccupied with weight, as society has dictated that women should be 36-24-36. In reality, there are no good reasons for women to look paper thin whether they are “normal” ladies or professional models. Focusing on losing weight when trying to obtain jobs as models or keep modeling assignments is unhealthy.

The greatest reason for not focusing on weight loss is death. Although this is an extreme circumstance, many women have actually died from being too thin and ultimately malnourished. Once the body has degenerated to a certain point, it will be very difficult if not possible to restore the body to its normal structure. Parts of the body may become permanently marred or deformed and organs may have shut down completely or have been damaged.

Food and water are the lifelines of humans. And while we can subsist for long periods without food as long as we have water, we cannot live forever without proper nourishment. Extended periods without food not only cause dire situations as in death or organ failure, but also, people are not alert, are not able to focus and become dangers to themselves.

Models in particular begin to fall into vicious cycles. Because they focus on losing weight rather than being healthy, they are hungry and irritable. To combat the hunger pains, the tiredness and all the other symptoms of trying to lose weight, women then progress to drugs or drug-like pills to artificially modify their daily behavior.

Focusing on weight loss and taking measures to lose unnecessary weight causes the body’s metabolism to run incorrectly. Using excessive means like taking laxatives, purging, binging and starving creates havoc with the normal rhythms of the body’s clock. When you finally decide to have a baby later, it may not be possible.

Another important point to consider is that if you are bigger to start with, you are not going to get small enough to be a model. Some women were just not meant to be a size zero or a size two. If you are a size twelve, how on earth do you expect to become a size two? This is not normal and thus, focusing on losing weight is self-destructive.

The mental anxiety of focusing on weight loss is great. Everything in your life will revolve around the weight loss causing you to miss family events and missing out on important things in life. Enjoyable things will be missing from your life. It will not be balanced because you will be consumed with the perceived effects of gaining weight if you eat something.

There is no doubt that a healthy person who has put on a few pounds can easily and safely remove those pounds. But if you are a model and you are trying to be several sizes smaller in a short time or trying to remove eating from your life altogether, these are not behaviors that are healthy nor acceptable.
